Indian Okra is available year-around. However, the peak period is typically in between March to July. It is finger shaped green coloured. And available either fresh or frozen.
Bhindi (Okra) also knows as Ladies finger, consider as an important vegetable of the tropical countries like India, Philippines, Thailand, Africa and South America.
Indian Okra Varieties
There are many varieties of bhindi as per the colour, shape and sizes. But for export purposes few selected breeds are available.
These are – Sobha, Sungrow 35, Vaishali, Vijay, Adhunik, Pancholi, Azad Kranti, Varsha Uphar etc.
Bhindi + Water = Cleanse kidneys, treat diabetes and lower cholesterol.
Export Packaging For Okra
For export purposes, lady finger is packed in consumer packs of LDPE or Polypropylene. 20 consumer packs of 250 gm are placed in 2×2×5 pattern in a 5 kg CFB box.

The nutrients present in bhindi useful for preventing a number of health problems.
Cancer : Lectin from okra used in study to treat human Brest cancer cells. The treatment reduced cancer cell growth by 63 percent and killed 72 percent of the human cancer cells.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding : Folate is important for preventing fatal problems during a pregnancy. Getting enough folate is important for women before and during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Heart health : Eating high fibre food can reduce harmful cholesterol levels in the blood. It also lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity and diabetes. Okra has 3.2 g of fibre per cup.
Osteoporosis : Lady finger is high in vitamin K. Hence, eating enough vitamin K leads to have strong bones.
Gastrointestinal health : Dietary fibre helps prevent constipation, colorectal cancer and reduce appetite therefore it may result in weight loss.
